What is your first choice of media player? What are also the reasons why it is a favourite? If you were to ask me, I would say VLC Media Player and KMPlayer. They are known for their ability to play almost all media formats available. I use one of these randomly, but with two exceptions. The YouTube search feature was introduced in KM Player from version 3.4. So the steps here work in version 3.4 and higher. Step 1: Start the player interface. At the top right, you will find a search icon as highlighted in the image below.
Step 2: Clicking the icon will allow you to search YouTube directly from your player. Make sure it is a YouTube icon featured to the left of the search box.
Step 3: Select your video from the results. Just one click, and your video will be played. You can also control the quality and base your search on categories such as most viewed, most recent, etc.
Note: Recently, I upgraded to version 3.9, and my surprise, I couldn’t find the YouTube search icon on the player interface. But I found out how to play videos. Step 1: Right-click anywhere on the player and go to Open -> Open URL.
Step 2: Paste the link / URL of the video you want to play here. The exciting thing about this method is that it isn’t just limited to YouTube. If you have the correct URL, you can play any online video.
This window also allows you to maintain your own repository of URLs, making navigation easier for you in the future. I suggest you switch to the custom URL list and build a portfolio of your favorite channels. Once you get in and start looking, you can quickly switch from one to the other. Cool Tip Until this feature was available in KMPlayer. I used a third-party application to perform this task. You may want to check it out if you want to watch YouTube videos on any player other than KMPlayer.
Conclusion
I can watch YouTube videos directly in a browser. But the flash player crash is just too annoying. Additionally, I can quickly switch between online media and my local files on the same interface when using the player.
